**General Description** This role involves hands-on work supporting event setup and teardown while meeting constant deadlines, as well as assisting custodial services at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. Working under the guidance of Assistant Operations Managers, team members spend most of their time preparing event spaces, breaking them down, and maintaining clean, welcoming facilities. Depending on event schedules and operational needs, employees may also take on responsibilities in other areas.Success in this position requires strong teamwork and a customer-focused approach, as staff regularly interact with clients and the public to ensure events run smoothly and expectations are met. All work is performed according to established procedures and standards and is reviewed through inspection and observation of assigned work areas. Employees may serve as the crew leader of non-permanent staff. This position requires a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

* Perform event conversion activities, including the set-up and take-down of event related equipment such as tables, chairs, risers and staging materials.
* Move large numbers of tables, chairs, etc. from storage to event rooms and back in an efficient and non-disruptive manner.
* Follow written or verbal instructions and set-up layouts.
* Give instructions to other non-permanent staff as necessary.
* Ensure work is performed within acceptable time frames based on customer needs and work assignment priorities.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, City agencies and Monona Terrace clients and guests.
Custodial Duties
* Perform a variety of custodial and cleaning tasks in and around the Convention Center.
* Clean, sweep, mop, dust, scrub and wax floors and stairways. Vacuum carpets. Spot and extract carpeted areas.
* Clean restrooms.
* Extract banquet chairs. Clean, dust, polish or shampoo furniture and other office, room and lobby equipment.
* Perform other cleaning and minor maintenance functions as assigned.
* Pick up trash and litter. Empty waste baskets and receptacles and dispose of trash.
Equipment Operation
* Enter simple and standardized operational changes on computerized building automation controls.
* Operate forklifts and other material moving equipment and cleaning equipment (e.g. floor buffers, waxers, sweepers, etc) as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks.
* Perform basic cleaning and preventive maintenance on equipment.
* Unload and transport materials for meetings, conferences, conventions, exhibits, banquets, and other events.
Perform related work as required.**Minimum Qualifications**
* Six (6) months of experience performing custodial, routine maintenance, or other related manual work. Depending on the number of applications, random selection may be used to determine who will proceed to the interview process.
