Principal Power Electronics Architect (Space Systems)
- ----------------------------------------------------
**Sub Max:**
**Pay Rate:** $ to $100.00
**Duration:** (6 Months contract to hire)
**Shift:** 9/80
### A day in this role
When you log in, you're leading the electrical architecture for power electronics that fly in space and perform on land, sea, and air. Your morning might start with a worst-case analysis review for a DC-DC converter in the tens-of-watts class; by lunch you're guiding a teammate through mixed-signal simulation results; by afternoon you're at the bench probing first-article boards headed toward kilowatt-scale electric propulsion. You close the day aligning with systems, software, mechanical, test, and program teams to keep concept, design, verification, and production marching as one.
### What you will do
* Own detailed circuit design from architecture through analysis, worst-case analysis, simulation, and PCB layout oversight to create buildable hardware.
* Bring up new boards: perform initial power-on, verification, integration, and rigorous troubleshooting to validate intent and performance.
* Support production to ensure successful delivery and follow-on sustainment.
* Collaborate across disciplines (electrical, mechanical, software, systems, test, program management) throughout proposal, feasibility, design, test, production, and support.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to early-career engineers.
### Where you'll apply your expertise
* DC-DC and other power converter design and development across tens of Watts to hundreds of kilowatts.
* Power, analog, high-voltage analog, mixed-signal, and digital circuit design.
* Simulation using LTspice/PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink (or equivalents).
* PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics (or equivalents) and oversight of board layout.
* Hands-on lab validation with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, electronic loads, and related equipment.
* Avionics, electrical/electronic systems, equipment installation and wiring, schematics, PCB components and assembly, CAD workflows.
### Qualifications
* Strong analytical problem solving with a record of resolving complex technical issues.
* Excellent verbal and written communication to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Leadership experience and a passion for mentoring.
#### Experience/Education (as specified)
* Requirements: Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience; Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience; in lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
* Education: Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience; Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; in lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
* BSEE, MSEE preferred.
### Work schedule
9/80
### Compliance
* U.S. Citizenship only, no dual citizenship
* Secret Clearance not required for start. May need later on and manager would like candidate to have ability to obtain clearance
### Why this role
Step into a position where your circuit designs power missions across land, sea, air, and space---with a pathway from contract to hire as you demonstrate impact.
