We had a brutal basement flooding event in Orland Park with several inches of water and called RC Szabo Plumbing as an emergency. They got to us same day, took control of the situation quickly, and kept everything clear and calm while we were dealing with active flooding.
They replaced our primary sump pump with a Zoeller M63 and, just as important, explained how and why the failure happened. In our case, freezing temperatures led to conditions that overworked the system and ultimately burned the old pump out. That explanation mattered because this is our forever home and we had turned the basement into a finished suite with custom updates. I did not want a temporary patch-I wanted to understand the cause and prevent a repeat.
Based on their recommendations, we upgraded to a Zoeller AquaNot 508 battery backup system with the Z-Control (WiFi monitoring) and added a second discharge line to protect against a frozen discharge line causing another backup and flood. The solution felt preventative and engineered, not like an upsell.
Professionalism was top-notch: clean work, organized setup, and they treated our home with respect. I also chose their flood protection coverage up to $100K because if this ever happens again, I need reimbursement that actually reflects the custom work we have invested in downstairs.
After the initial flood, we compared restoration companies and RC Szabo’s referral ended up being the highest quality work we found. It genuinely felt like they were on our side through the whole project, including dealing with the insurance company during the repair process.

They showed up on time, explained exactly what was going on without talking down to me, and laid out my options clearly instead of pushing the most expensive solution.

I received a referral for this company from a trusted friend. I immediately advised my husband to call this company based on my friend's experience. To my dismay, I was shocked and thoroughly disappointed with the level of customer service that my husband received just trying to schedule an appointment. I'm very big on customer service and this company failed to meet my expectations early in the process. As a potential customer, my husband and I didn't expect to be treated in such a demeaning manner.
During the process of scheduling an appointment, at my friend's request, we notified the representative that she referred us. Immediately, in a rude tone, the representative states, "It's still going to be a $175 service charge". Then he went on to say, "I'm not going to be driving all around for free." It was never implied or requested that they provide a service or commute for free. Why would you assume that by simply saying who referred your company that we were expecting anything short of the same quality service that you provided the person that referred you? We never expressed any issues with the service charge nor were we expecting a discount for saying someone referred your company to us. One would think that the person making the referral would benefit not the person being referred anyway!

Problem with backup in main line....This company was great! Able to come to my home in a couple of hours, they were professional, friendly, explained the issue, got the job done and even cleaned up the space! AVOID THEM AT ALL COST!!! The workmanship is horrible. You will have to have another company come out to correct their work. They are unprofessional. Failed to install whole house water filter, dishwasher improperly installed, faucet handles put on backwards, refrigerator water line not put on correctly. They make more work by not doing it right the first time. Had to call out a REAL plumbing company to do it right.

I would never recommend this plumbing company ! I hired RC Szabo to scope my plumbing lines at my new home inspection and what should have taken no more than 1 hour took FIVE HOURS ! After a long morning waiting for my lines to be scoped and inspected the man charged me $500 and said that our plumbing should be fine for the next year or so then we might need to rot it out for some basic maintenance. Not even one month after purchasing this new home my basement flooded ! Turns out the pipes are so overgrown with tree roots that I need new pipes and it is going to cost be over $5000 !!!!! How could they over look this ?! Extremely upsetting. Now they are ignoring my phone calls when I am asking for video footage of the initial scope that was done at my inspection.

I have had several plumbers out at my house to fix my drainage in my house. After three plumbers . Two rodded did nothing one claimed he went down 35 ft and there is no such size. Then his boss came out three days later did a water blast. Water everywhere and nothing worked.. One wanted to tear my yard up cause he claimed the septic was full.
Szabo came out on Friday last week was out today put pipes in a different direction. After a couple of months they were the only intellegent plumbers I have had. Definitely use them . Very reasonable. highly recommended...

WOW!!! NOT COOL!!! I called today for a price to replace a hose faucet bib ( frost free ) and a shut off valve,answering service told me $450 CAUSE IT IS IN MY CRAWL SPACE!!!! AND $100 DOLLARS MORE CAUSE IT IS SUNDAY AND AN EMERGENCY??? REALLY?? They must of thought I fell off of a banana boat!! The sad thing is the old owners of my house used this company before probably when DAD was running it and probably was fair.I did it myself for $50 in parts.Sorry $500 for labor even on a Sunday is a little steep for an hour job!! !Please people shop around!

Our tenant who resides on property that we own advised us that their bathtub would not drain. We contacted a plumbing company that we had gone with in the past. However, they indicated they could not open the drain, that they had to open a wall, a floor and a ceiling of the property in order to clear the blockage, they could not guarantee that they would be successful and that they could not get it done for a number of days. They also were very unprofessional by not providing us with the basic requested information or a proposal and were going to charge us over $1500 out of the gate.
We learned of RC Szabo through a family member who raved about them. We called Szabo, advised them of our problem, and they sent out one of their plumbers (R.J.). He immediately determined the problem, advised us that he only had to access the problem via a ceiling access, although he too would have to cut through drywall/plaster. He provided us with a detailed assessment, the proposal was ready the next day, and he was at work shortly thereafter. He completed the job within hours, checking multiple times to ensure there was no blockage, even going as far as rodding the remainder of the drain to make sure the water flowed freely. The original estimate was $500 dollars less than the other company, which was also revised downward by another $100 dollars once he realized that he didn't have to cut through poured concrete.
He cleaned up well, provided advice as to how we should reconstruct the ceiling for easy access going forward, and reconfigured the pipes/trap in a manner that would make it easier to clear in the future. He was very courteous, polite and professional. We were also provided a 60-day guarantee along with contacts to repair the ceiling he had to open.
We have other plumbing needs in our personal residence and will definitely be contacting RC Szabo to provide us an estimate. We are very happy with their work and would recommend them to others.

I don't know why people are complaining but Bob (the younger Bob) came and pretty much spent his whole day fixing my leaking shower thoroughly. Without going into a lot of detail, pretty much everything was leaking and needed to be replaced. He was very professional and kept me informed the whole time. What I paid was significantly less than what I was expecting to pay. He was very polite and my house needs a lot of updating, so I will most definitely use them again. Great customer service and great people to do business with.

Terrible service from this company. Scheduled appointments twice and they no showed, they didn't even to call to say they couldn't make it. After missing the second appointment didn't answer calls or voice mail. Pretty frustrating when you take the day off to be home to take care of a problem. Avoid if you value your time.

Today, our toilet and bath tub would not flush and drain. I used google maps and for my area, RC Szabo Plumbing came up. I had seen good reviews on our neighborhood watch page, so I decided to give them a call.
Bob answered and said he would call me back within a half hour. He called back in 30 minutes and said he was on his way. In less than 15 minutes, he arrived and went right to work. He rodded out our sewer line for over an hour and pulled out a bunch of stuff, enough to fill a garbage bag.
He was honest and fair and gave me great advice on how to deal with this issue and maintain our plumbing in the future. I will definitely be calling them in the future for any plumbing needs.
To come straight out and fix this on super short notice, working outside in 15 degree weather, no complaining and with a professional attitude, I was beyond impressed and very thankful he showed up quickly and for the hard work done.

Talk about going the extra mile ! These guys did a fantastic job helping me with my remodel . I was informed and kept up to date with how they were gonna fix my leaking shower and replace the toilet well the wax ring . The plan was broken down for me n each part was explained n the purpose for the repair and I was able to understand my quote

Terrible!! After scheduling an appointment a week in advanced and explaining everything over the phone that needed to be done we were all set for the work to be done! My dad helped us with the plumbing of our new construction in our home and didn't know how to do everything so we needed some minor work done after. After the worker met with my husband he looked at the bathroom and said he's not going to fix anything another person f****** up and thanked us for waisting his time. I called the person that I set up the appointment with after my husband called me about happened and he told me not to waste his time and hung up on me, I'm guessing the job was too small for him to take. I'd never recommend this company to anyone. Only convenience is that they are open 7 days a week but that's probably because they have no work! Would rate a 0 star if I could!!

I called RC Szabo Plumbing due to the BBB A+ rating and good reviews in other websites. I was quoted a rate on the phone. Serviceman Bob showed up the next day and quickly replaced my leaking toilet. The rate remained the same and area was cleaned up after he completed the job. I would recommend them.
