Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) was created with the purpose of providing integrated enterprise IT support to Federal customers both CONUS and OCONUS. CARS employs Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with decades of experience working in the Federal marketplace.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled **Senior Network Engineer** to design, implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure. This is a hands-on, on-site role responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, performance, and security of enterprise network systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a proactive approach to improving network reliability and scalability.
**Responsibilities**
* Design, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center networks
* Manage and support core networking technologies such as routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and QoS
* Configure and maintain Cisco routers, switches, and related network equipment
* Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve outages in a timely manner
* Implement and maintain network security controls, including firewalls, ACLs, segmentation, and secure access solutions
* Support high availability architectures, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies
* Lead network infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments
* Collaborate with systems, security, and cloud teams to ensure integrated and secure solutions
* Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration standards
* Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to optimize network performance and reliability
* Experience in managing a team of network engineers.
* Experience with interfacing with Senior Government leadership
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers and IT staff
* Participate in on-call rotation and provide escalation support when needed
* Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
* High school diploma or GED equivalent
* 5 years of experience in network engineering or related roles
* Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching
* Experience with firewalls and network security best practices
* Experience with VPN technologies (site-to-site and remote access)
* Experience with network monitoring tools and performance analysis
* Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification required

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
* Ability to work on-site full-time
* This position is fully on-site
* Deep knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
* Strong expertise with Cisco networking technologies
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex environments
* Strong understanding of network design, architecture, and best practices
* Excellent documentation and communication skills
* May require occasional after-hours work for maintenance or emergency support
* Participation in on-call rotation may be required
* Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
* Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
* Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
* Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting, as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
* Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired.
* Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
