You will be an early product engineer at Perform Search, working closely with the CEO and the recruiting team. You will be a key driver in our internal AI implementation, our product development, and the work we do hand in hand with clients. You will write the code, help shape the product, and have real input on what we build next.
We are looking for someone early in their career who loves AI, has a founder mentality, works well independently, communicates clearly, and has a keen eye for the business. This is a high-ownership seat for someone who wants to grow fast: you will get more responsibility than your years of experience would normally suggest, and the support to rise to it. Most of what you build will go into production within the week. You will see every customer outcome and hear every pain point and solution directly. The work is concrete, the feedback loops are short, and the impact on the business is visible.
**What you will work on**
Four areas. Each is already in use today in some form. Each needs to be properly built
**1. PerformOne**
The internal operating system of the firm. We are building a CRM better suited to how we actually work: one that reads, writes, and reasons across every human touchpoint. You will architect it.
**2. PerformAI**
Outreach sequencing, interview scheduling, transcript ingestion, scorecard generation, and client status reporting. Anything a recruiter does more than once should run on its own. You will own the workflow engine and the AI agents that drive it.
**3. PerformDB**
Candidate-understanding platform that helps our clients understand candidates more deeply and drive stronger outcomes. You will design and build it.
**4. Internal training**
Train the team on our systems, ways of working, and best practices so the whole firm gets more out of what you build
**Who You Are**
Tou are product inclined. You think like an engineer, but you also care a lot about what you are building, who it is for, and whether it actually works for them. You write production code, sit in customer calls, sketch the wireframe, and ship the feature.
You are early in your career but already move like an owner. You have opinions forming about LLM evaluations, schema design, when to reach for a framework, and when to keep things simple, and you are hungry to sharpen them. You enjoy working on a small team, operate well without a lot of process, and you are direct, well organized, and a clear writer
**What we look for**
* 1 to 5 years of experience building software, including at least one thing you shipped that real people used.
* You are comfortable across the stack, or eager to get there fast. Hands-on experience with at least one of Postgres, TypeScript, Python, Next.js, or modern AI frameworks, and the drive to pick up the rest.
* You have built with LLMs, whether at work or in your own projects: prompts, evaluations, retrieval, or agents.
* You can talk through your work. You take ownership. When something is yours, you see it through without being managed step by step.
* You write clearly. You can explain a technical idea to a non-technical client in a short paragraph.You move quickly and ship.
**Helpful but not required**
* Experience in or adjacent to recruiting, HR tech, or sales tech. You have built something with the Greenhouse, Bullhorn, or Lever API. You have a clear point of view on how Clay, Attio, Linear, Ramp, Mercury, or similar teams build software
**How We Work**
We work in and out of our New York office near Grand Central. You will be in the office 2 to 3 days a week.
